Watching the news these days has been almost addicting. Over and over again we see with sad eyes that this nation is in crisis the likes of which some have never seen and which some haven't seen in decades.
I was thinking of times in the scriptures when was in great crisis. Here are some and the actions of the the eternal God and Savior in times of crisis:
1. Crisis: - The earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
God's actions: Then God said, "Let There Be Light, and There Was Light" (Genesis 1)
2. Crisis: - Man had become totally evil and wicked (Genesis 6-9)
a. God's Actions: When the ark was finished Noah, his family and the animals went into the
ark. God then closed the door and then the rains came.
3. Crisis: - The Savior and His disciples were in a boat on the waters and a storm arose that bade
to sink the boat and drown them all.
a. The Savior's actions: He arose in the midst of the storm and commanded, "Peace Be Still,
and everything quieted down. He was in total control of the very elements.
4. Crisis: - Humankind was sin-cursed and on the way to hell with no way out.
a. The triune God's actions: - "God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten Son
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
b. The Savior's actions: - Died on the Cross and 3 days later He arose with all power in His
Hands! He cleanses man from sin when He saves them. Romans 10:9-10
c. The Holy Spirit's actions: - Teaches us, changes us, rebukes us, reminds us, and shows us
all that the Savior has said.(John 14:26) "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
In every crisis God has shown that He is in control. Nothing surprises Him. As the Savior prepared to go to the cross, He left the disciples a wonderful promise/gift that we can receive
today in the midst of a pandemic and in the midst of national crisis: (John 14:27) "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
In Christ,
