It's possible that you might think you know all about this great and precious salvation that you have. I say that we'll never really know down here what it cost to have our sins forgiven, guilty feelings taken away, and a fresh, pure life take over our sinful bodies because the blood of Jesus Christ cleansed us! Our resumes had nothing to do with our names being written in the Lamb's Book of Life! There is no work or feat that any of us can do to get Heaven's gates to open and let us in. No! You and me "ain't" that good.
The scriptures say in Isaiah 64:6 " We are all infected and impure with sin. When we put on our prized robes of righteousness, we find they are but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves we fade, wither, and fall. And our sins, like the wind, sweep us away." (The Living Bible)
So, for us to think that we have somehow earned this salvation is an insult to the Savior of the World who gave His life to give us salvation.
Taking all of this into account, never, ever let this salvation get regular or common to you. Never let it get average; never be unappreciative of what it cost Jesus to save you. In this season of thanksgiving, thank the Lord earnestly for His gift of Salvation; and show your gratefulness for what He did for you by living a holy life before Him and the world.
We'll never really know what it cost to see our sin upon that old rugged Cross.
Thank you Lord!
