Don't Be Anxious About Anything!!

Four weeks ago I had a CAT scan screening for lung cancer. The x-ray technician told me my results will be available in a few hours. I was instructed to call my primary care provider for the results. I was so anxious and nervous quite naturally.

My brother who's almost 10 years younger than me was diagnosed with second stage lung cancer because of about 10 to 12 years of tobacco use. Naturally I was extremely worried because I had a 40-year habit. Although I quit cold turkey a week prior to Thanksgiving 2021 I was still very concerned about the abuse that I had put on my lungs.

A few hours after testing I called my doctor for the results. The call went to an answering service explaining that the office was closed due to the holiday season and would not be open again until after the new year. It was the longest six days of my life. I'm not usually the worrying type but this was very different.

I haven't been reading my Bible as much as I should, which I know is wrong, because I know where my strength lies. Philippians 4:13-14 states, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.” Then again, Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving let your request be known to God. And the peace that surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Oh and by the way my lungs are cancer free. Hallelujah and thank God!!

Much Love,

Brother Rob Tyus
